Ukrainian Music in the 18th – 21st Centuries: A Retrospective Study

The purpose of the article. study seeks to characterise traditional Ukrainian music 18th-21st centuries influenced by Western European stylistic trends. To do this, analyses similarities and differences in historical development Ukraine looking into some events. contextual relationships history with national traditions global trends were established. research methodology. relies on comparative culturological compare heritage art as a cultural process influences. scientific novelty work lies expanding knowledge about context artistic styles. Conclusions. Culturological analysis revealed that Baroque was most vivid between mid 17th 18th centuries. During this period, polyphonic pieces written style not inferior church terms quality originality. Partes is new born from baroque tradition. Under influence Europe, single-frequency partes singing or partsong transformed become spiritual concerto Classical period. Romanticism had weak effect music. Its elements can be traced only works composers second half 19th century, such S. Hulak-Artemovskyi, M. Lysenko, V. Matiuk, Vorobkevych, A. Vakhnianyn, name few. Later, culture enriched compositions B. Liatoshynskyi, Kos-Anatolskyi, Liudkevych, Shtoharenko. avant-garde 1960s (L. Hrabovskyi, Khodziatskyi, Sylvestrov, Zahortsev) stands out its innovation.
